1. Broken Windows coming to WWP - help make it a success!!

West Wash Park has been chosen to participate in the Denver Police Department's "Broken Windows" Program. This is a data-driven zero tolerance approach to policing and it focuses police resources in areas with higher crime. This program will include extra police patrols, overlapping patrol shifts, more Neighborhood Inspection officers, more graffiti units, more gang units, etc.

Before this goes into effect, we have been asked to hand deliver 350 surveys to neighbors, seeking their opinion of crime and police work in our neighborhood. We are looking for volunteers to help hand out about 3 of these questionnaires per block. These volunteers will be assigned from 3 to 5 blocks to cover. If you can help us and DPD in your area, please contact Merce Lea at meredithzml@aol.com for more information. We need to get the surveys distributed and collected by 2/22.

Installation of insulation must occur between 1/1/2009 and 12/31/2010.

Washington Park Garden Tour
A Benefit for Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation
Saturday, June 14, 2008 9 am - 2 pm

Whimsical, peaceful, vibrant – gardens are a reflection of their owner’s personality. The renowned Washington Park Garden tour will once again provide the opportunity for attendees to experience ten new gardens with personality. This tour will provide the only opportunity this year to visit gardens in the Washington Park neighborhood. Created by community volunteers, the Washington Park Garden Tour will benefit the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 the day of the tour and are available by calling 303-639-9110, at www.dpfcf.org or, at 903 S. Corona Street the day of the tour.

The ten gardens were chosen because they reflect their gardener’s personality and sense of design. These are super examples of gardens as living space and include examples of landscape, xeriscape, floral masterpieces, and hardscapes for areas that vary from shade to sunny. The tour will also include several gardens with prominent water features. This year we will feature a bonus garden with a botanical photography demonstration and exhibition by R. Chandler Photogaphy! And as always we will have a drawing for cool prizes!

The Ron Buss Team with Coldwell Banker and Coldwell Banker are the presenting sponsors of the tour.
Cody Dental, Martha Price, CFP with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc and Jim Sundheim, proprietor of Washington Park Electric are the major sponsors of the event.

All proceeds from the Washington Park Garden Tour will benefit the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation. The Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to helping adult cancer patients enjoy life by providing access to social, cultural, and recreational activities. In 2008, the Foundation will arrange more than 5,000 activities for over 1,200 adults with cancer throughout Colorado.
