The January meeting of the Home Tour Committee will be held at 7 p.m. at the home of Kellie Papish, 777 South Downing. Bring munchies to share, if you wish.

WWPNA is proud to present the 2007 West Washington Park Home Tour on Saturday, September 8, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour offers a great deal with eight homes in the 900-1200 blocks of South Clarkson, Emerson and Ogden streets. Styles range from classic early century bungalows and duplexes to Victorians to a late 1940s era bungalow.

This year’s theme, “The Surprise Inside”, speaks to the fact that while these homes may look fairly typical on the outside, once you step inside they really shine. The homeowners have shown tremendous creativity in construction, materials and use of space.

Even though the tour is more pedestrian friendly this year than in years past, Mile High Pedicabs will be on hand to offer rides between venues. As in the 2005 tour, the Washington Street Community Center, at the north end of the tour route, will be offering a make-your-own sundae bar for only a dollar.

Advance tickets are $12 and will be available beginning August 6 at Classic Homeworks, 281 South Pearl St.; the Washington Street Community Center, 809 South Washington St.; and Lincoln Elementary School, 710 South Pennsylvania St. Tickets are $15 the day of the tour and will be available at each home. WWPNA members receive a $2 discount.

Proceeds will benefit WWPNA, Lincoln Elementary School and the Washington Street Community Center.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the 2007 West Washington Park Home Tour scheduled for Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be eight homes featured on this year's tour, concentrated in the southeastern part of the neighborhood making walking easier. Pedicabs will also be available. Other activities include a repeat of last tour's sundae bar, live music, a raffle and (hopefully) online ticket sales beginning August 1. Keep checking this page for the latest information.

The Home Tour Committee is re-establishing itself to begin planning for the 2007 Home Tour to take place in September. Meetings are once monthly, with more frequent meetings as needed as the tour approaches. Below are listed the core sub-committees needed to plan the tour. If you are interested in any of these, please contact Anita Martin at hometour@wwpna.org.

Home Selection

• Contact homeowners interested in hosting.
• Pre-tour each home and narrow the choices down.
• Establish the tour route through each selected home.
• Maintain close contact with homeowners throughout the year. Advise them of any developments which may affect them.

Publicity

• Publicize the need for planning committee volunteers, host homes, and day-of volunteers.
• Send out periodic press releases to other RNOs, neighborhood papers and local media.
• Contact other tours for publicity.
• Coordinate with a graphics person for design and printing of poster, ticket, ads and other printed material.
• Assist in writing description of the tour homes for the ticket.

Volunteer Coordinator

• Contact previous volunteers to see if they are interested this year.
• Work with Home Selection and homeowners to determine number of volunteers needed.
• Create master schedule for tour day.
