The Zoning Committee investigates notices received from the City for re-zonings, appeals to the Board of Adjustments, and liquor license applications, transfers of ownership and modifications of premises and makes recommendations to the WWPNA Board for action. The Committee assists residents in learning about the processes and their options for addressing various types of applications. The Committee meets the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., 590 S. Sherman. Please confirm date and time with the Chair if you plan to attend.

Special WWPNA Zoning Committee
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
The special meeting convened at 7:05 p.m., and the Committee members present were Charlotte Winzenburg (Chair), Gertie Grant, Gloria LeFree, and David Callaghan. Guests present were; Ilene Sloan, Mike and Kristina Ziehler, Joan Portman and her daughter. A sign-in sheet with contact information is attached.
NEW BUSINESS
The reason for the special meeting was the Zoning Appeal Application (Case #91-09) for 528 South Pennsylvania Street. It is an appeal of a denial of a permit to erect a 2nd story addition to a single unit dwelling 2 feet into the 5 foot north side setback and 4 feet into the 23 foot 6 inch South Pennsylvania average front setback, in an R-2 zone. The hearing was moved forward to June 23, 2009, too early to address at a regular monthly Zoning Committee meeting.

The meeting convened at 7:05 p.m., and the Committee members present were Charlotte
Winzenburg (Chair), Gertie Grant, Gloria LeFree, Barry Sarver, David Callaghan, Terri Ficke,
and Fred Hammer. The minutes of April 28, 2009 were approved by the Committee members
present who attended the meeting. Guests present were; Sheila Robinson, Lisa Reynolds, and
Jon Hindlemann. A sign?in sheet with contact information is attached.
NEW BUSINESS
The first order of business was the Zoning Appeal Application (Case #63?09) for 994 South
Ogden Street. It is an appeal of a denial of a permit to erect a 2nd story addition 2 feet 2 inches
into the 5 foot north side setback in an R?1 zone. The possible remedy is a variance.
Lisa Reynolds, co?owner of the property with Chris Nevitt, described the existing single story
home, where it resides on the lot, and what their plans were for the 2nd story addition. The
‘architect of record,’ Jon Hindlemann gave the Committee a set of drawings that further
depicted the planned addition, and spoke about the circumstances requiring a variance. The
north setback roof violation is due to the fact that the north wall and a portion of the existing
roof are already within the side setback (having been constructed in 1916). None of the new

The meeting convened at 7:05 p.m., and the Committee members present were Charlotte
Winzenburg (Chair), Gertie Grant, Gloria LeFree, Barry Sarver, David Callaghan, and Jim Jones.
Jim was given proxy by Fred Hammer in his absence. The minutes of March 31, 2009 were
approved by the Committee members present who attended the meeting. Guests present were;
Kathleen Gregor, Jeff Gregor, Stephen Barsch, Estela Koncsik, Paul Ryan, Jennifer Auen, Brenda
Hauck, Velma Malley, and Peter Chronis. A sign?in sheet with contact information is attached.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. 601 S. Corona Street – appeal of a denial of a permit to erect a detached garage into the
setback was granted with stipulations.
2. 634 S. Clarkson Street – appeal of an order to discontinue maintaining a garage
encroaching into the setback was heard, but we have not gotten word.
3. 281 S. Grant Street – application to erect an overheight fence was also heard, but we
have not gotten word.
