3. Denver Digs Trees - Deadline 2/15
**************************

Each spring, Denver Digs Trees offers affordable street trees, which are trees planted close to the curbside, often in the "tree lawn" between the sidewalk and curb. Street trees beautify our neighborhoods and improve our quality of life, including traffic calming, decreased crime, improved air and water quality, and enhanced property values.

Apply for a low-cost or free Street Tree today! Availability is limited and our deadline is final this year, so apply now!

Application Deadline: February 15

Application can be found at: http://www.theparkpeople.com/2010PP_SpringTreeApp_Web.pdf

After you submit your application, a Denver Digs Trees Site Inspector will visit your property to verify that your potential tree site meets city spacing requirements. If it does, the inspector will issue approval and mark the best planting site(s), and you will receive a confirmation letter in April. Residents who are approved for street trees are responsible for having utility lines checked prior to planting. Trees must be picked up on Saturday, April 17 (pick-up location information will be included in your confirmation letter).

4. Foil Car Smash-and-Grabs
**************************

Our neighborhood police representatives have informed us that "smash and grab" car crime is up in West Wash Park. Thieves walk along the street peering into parked cars looking for items left in cars they can easily resell, then smash the car window, grab the stuff and run.

The primary items being "grabbed" are 1) GPS units left on car dashboards and 2) any briefcase / case which looks like it might contain a laptop or other electronics.

Protect yourself - do not leave these items in your car where they can be seen. If you see any persons which seem to be walking down the street and peering into cars, call the police non-emergency line at 720-913-2000 and give a physical description of the persons, their location and the time. The police can use this over time to
both catch the thieves and to convict. It's also a good idea to write this down in case you are asked about it later.

We can all work together to keep West Washington Park a safer place!

5. Message from Flower Wraps closing
**************************

Flower Wraps has closed its location in the Louisiana Lofts and is moving to Buchtel and Colorado in a couple of months. We include this notice because the owner, Carolyn Kinsella, was concerned that quite a few people had gift certificates and wouldn't know what to do, and she had no way of contacting them. Please call the same Flower Wraps number, 303-733-3240, or you can use your gift certificate at Breakfast on Broadway, 2901 S. Broadway.
