Come and hear the stories of the neighborhood with 91-year old Goldia, who has lived in the neighborhood for 77 years. She still walks the 17 steps up to her door and even did a little snowshoveling during the recent spate of storms. She remembers much of the neighborhood's history and changes, and is willing to tell it to us (and a digital voice recorder) to kick off our meeting.

We'll end the meeting with a few updates on history in the area, including Country Club Gardens, Gates redevelopment, and 39 WWPNA homes that have already received preliminary approval to create a historic district!

There are two new items of business

1. 7:00 - A barbed-wire fence at 800 S Broadway. The city wants the fence removed, the property owner has replaced a fence the DOT removed during reconstruction of I-25.

2. 7:30 - Byer's field development. The developer Arcadia will be present to show their proposed plan to the Buyer's field vancant lot.

A third possible item is Linda Austin's restaurant proposal for Broadway and Maple. Linda owns Mona's near My Brother's Bar and the REI flagship store. We'll discuss this around 7:15.

Cherokee Denver Redevelopment Advisory Committee (CDRAC) holds monthly meetings as needed to discuss the on-going developments at the old Gates site west of Broadway. These meetings are usually the 4th Wednesday of each month, but may be cancelled if there is not enough new information to warrant holding a meeting. Join us for a community conversation to answer these questions and more related to residential development and rezoning. A panel of representatives from the Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation, Denver Community Planning and Development Department, Denver Board of Realtors, and Homebuilders Association of Metropolitan Denver will discuss policies, procedures and effectiveness of various regulatory approaches. A range of topics will be covered including R-3 to R-2 and R-2 to R-1 re-zonings, legislative zoning map amendments, “pattern books”, overlay districts (including zoning and landmark preservation) and demolition permit process improvements. After the panel discussion, the forum will conclude with a question and answer session.

(Denver) - Denver Parks and recreation will hold a public meeting and
30-day comment session to collect public feedback regarding changes to the department's alcohol policy. The public hearing will take placemfrom 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Montclair Civic Building located at 6820 E. 12th Avenue, Denver, 80220. This meeting will be part of the March Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting at 6:00 pm.

In 2006, the Department of Parks and Recreation adopted a policy
related to the consumption, serving and selling of alcoholic beverages in its parks and facilities. One aspect of this policy addressed races and walks that occur in Denver parks.

The initial policy allowed a race/walk organizer to set up a defined
area near the finish line where only race participants could enter and
be served 3.2 beer, wine and champagne. It has since been discovered
that State Liquor Laws consider this arrangement to be illegal since
they consider the race/walk entry fee an "indirect payment" for the
alcoholic beverages and therefore requires a liquor license. In order
to remain consistent with the initial intent of the policy, the
Department of Parks and Recreation is proposing a change to the policy
which requires that the race organizer obtain a Special Events Liquor
License from the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses. All laws,
