2007 WWP Home Tour planning has begun!
The Home Tour Committee is re-establishing itself to begin planning for the 2007 Home Tour to take place in September. Meetings are once monthly, with more frequent meetings as needed as the tour approaches. Below are listed the core sub-committees needed to plan the tour. If you are interested in any of these, please contact Anita Martin at hometour@wwpna.org.
Home Selection
- Contact homeowners interested in hosting.
- Pre-tour each home and narrow the choices down.
- Establish the tour route through each selected home.
- Maintain close contact with homeowners throughout the year. Advise them of any developments which may affect them.
Publicity
- Publicize the need for planning committee volunteers, host homes, and day-of volunteers.
- Send out periodic press releases to other RNOs, neighborhood papers and local media.
- Contact other tours for publicity.
- Coordinate with a graphics person for design and printing of poster, ticket, ads and other printed material.
- Assist in writing description of the tour homes for the ticket.
Volunteer Coordinator
- Contact previous volunteers to see if they are interested this year.
- Work with Home Selection and homeowners to determine number of volunteers needed.
- Create master schedule for tour day.
- Maintain contact with volunteers as to duties, etc. using a handout and one or more orientation meetings.
Sponsorship/Side Events
- Contact neighborhood businesses for sponsorship.
- Come up with creative ways to get smaller businesses involved and/or coordinate a side event (ie: drawings, patron parties, arts & crafts fairs).
- Coordinate with neighborhood schools, community centers and churches for bigger events.
Finance
- Look at past tours to determine a budget to present to WWPNA board.
- Keep track of all expenses and reimbursements.
- Report final numbers after the tour.
Event Day Coordinator
- Create a supply box for each home. Replenish any supplies that are low.
- Place “featured” yard signs at tour homes seven to ten days before tour.
- Find out where/whether tables and chairs are needed at tour homes and deliver these.
- Get change cash for each home.
- Drive from house to house on tour day to replenish supplies and money.
