Womens Soccer Stadium Community Benefits Agreement Complete, Zoning Approved by City Council

In December 2025, Denver City Council approved a zoning change for the land that will house the stadium for Denver Summit FC, a proffesional women's soccer team.

The location, also called Santa Fe Yards, is about a half mile from West Washington Park—south of  I-25, east of Santa Fe Drive and just west of the Broadway RTD station. Denver Summit FC will transform the site that has for decades sat dormant and undeveloped to create a world-class sports and entertainment district featuring pedestrian and bike connections with close proximity to public transportation. The stadium will open in advance of the 2028 season.

Prior to the City Council approving the zoning change for the property, a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) was signed. Several WWPNA members sat on CBA subcommittees and a steering committee that met every other week from May to December. These committees were made up of representatives from fourteen community organizations including the 7 Neighborhood Associations that surround the site.

A Community Benefits Agreement is an agreement between a community organization and a developer or property owner. CBAs are an opportunity for neighbors to work together with development projects to make sure the community’s priorities are reflected.

Implementation of the CBA will be governed by an advisory committee comprised of future residents, local organizations and RNOs, and Summit staff.

The CBA includes a CIF (Community Investment Fund), to be funded by the Denver Summit FC organization. In 2027, an initial contribution of $400k will be made, followed by annual contributions of $300k. Pending Regional Transportation District approval, matchday tickets will come with discounted transit passes. The Team agreed to partner with the City to identify funding for the construction of a "north bridge" over the railroad tracks connecting the stadium and Broadway Station near Kentucky Ave. The CBA is expected to bring in more than $7 million in benefits to the surrounding community over the next ten years.

Denver Summit FC will play its inaugural home match of the 2026 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season on Saturday, March 28 at Empower Field at Mile High! Tickets for that game are on sale now.
